Tour of Agios Efstratios island<\/span><\/p>\n

The small, remote island of Agios Efstratios, 21 nautical miles south of Lemnos, is a small paradise, an ideal place for quiet and peaceful holidays.
\nIt is a beautiful island, that deserves you visit it and know its natural beauties, its history and the simple, hospitable inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>\n

The boats transport day-trippers to even the remote beaches for swimming.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tour of Agios Efstratios island<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"Tour<\/a><\/p>\n

Agios Efstratios has fine sandy beaches, many sea caves and small churches dotting its hills.
\nYou can swim at the fine sandy beach of the village with crystal clear waters.<\/span>
\nAgios Antonios, Tragari, Trypiti, Lidario, Gournias, Panagia, Ftilio and Kalami are the beaches to visit.<\/span><\/p>\n

The only settlement, Agios Efstratios (or Ai-Stratis), has beautiful houses.
\nYou can find pensions, rooms to let\u00a0 and some taverns serving fresh fish, seafood and the famous chesse \u201cmizithra\u201d of fine quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

On 15th August (Assumption of the Virgin Mary), a festival is held in the village square of the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

Geographical & Historical Outline of Agios Efstratios<\/span><\/h3>\n

Agios Efstratios is a small remote island, 21 nautical miles south of Lemnos.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has a total area of 49 square kilometers and 30 kilometers of coastline.<\/span><\/p>\n

The highest peaks of the island are Simadi (298 meters), Agios Alexis and Profitis Elias.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Its landscape is volcanic and its only settlement is Agios Efstratios (or Ai-Stratis).<\/span><\/p>\n

The island was named after Saint Efstratios, who lived and dead on the island in the 19th c. as an exile.<\/span><\/p>\n

Agios Efstratios was inhabited from ancient times.<\/span><\/p>\n
