style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The island is known for its beautiful and virgin beaches with crystal waters and for the quiet and authentic Cycladic local life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">You will find rooms to let, traditional taverns, coffee shops, one bar and some shops.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The island has 3 villages: Schinoussa or Chora the capital, Messaria and Mersini the port<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Tour of Schinoussa Island<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">CHORA (SCHINOUSSA)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Chora is built on a hill because in older times the island has suffered a lot of catastrophes from pirate invasions.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In Chora there is a Folklore Museum.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Two churches are worth visiting: the church of Panagia Akathi on Chora and the church of the Annunciation of the Virgin on Messaria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The second village of the island, Messaria (3 km. from Chora) is the same graphic and enchanting.<br \/>\nThere, you can visit the church of Evangelismos (Annunciation of the Virgin).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In the island there are 17 virgin beaches with crystal clear waters.<br \/>\nThe most popular of them are Mersini, Tsigoura, Livadi, and Psili Ammos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span EVENTS<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The religious festival on August 15th is an occasion for all the inhabitants to share the same table for a meal with red sauce veal and wine.<br \/>\nIt lasts for 2 days.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The Annunciation of the Virgin celebrates on March 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'arial black', sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">LOCAL PRODUCTS \u2013 CUISINE<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Schinoussa produces honey of fine quality, wine and cheeses (kopanisti and xinomizithra).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The most famous recipes of the local cuisine are baked lamb with rice and mizithra cheese
