Tour of Antikythira island<\/span><\/p>\n

Antikythira or Cerigotto, is a small island between Kythira and Crete.
\nThe island fascinates many visitors with its wild beauty.
\nIt is the ideal place for those wanting quiet and peaceful holidays.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Tour<\/a><\/p>\n

It has only one settlement POTAMOS, the capital of the island.
\nHere, you will find a few rooms to let, taverns and cafes.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1900, the famous \u201cYouth of Antikythira\u201d, a bronze statue dating from the middle of the 4th c. BC and the Antikythira mechanism was found in the sea off the island. The bronze statue is now on display in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.
\nThe Antikythira mechanism is an ancient mechanical calculator discovered in the Antikythira wreck in 1901.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the settlement of Galaniana there are the churches or Profitis Elias and of Saint Myron, the patron saint of the island.<\/span><\/p>\n

A beach ideal for swimming is Xeropotamos, located easterly of Potamos near the ancient Egila.
\nYou can reach it from Potamos after 30 minutes of walk or by boat.
\nOther fine beaches are those of Kamarella and Halara.<\/span><\/p>\n

The island celebrates its holy martyr and patron Saint Myron on August 17 with a big feast.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the taverns of Potamos you can taste fresh fish and the traditional recipes of the island like the local ibex and wine of fine quality.
