The traditional Hotel Ianthi is located in Vessa, one of the Medieval villages of Chios, in the center of the island, at a distance of 19 km southwest of the city of Chios.
The village probably got its name from the Homeric name bessa=valley and then Vessa because it is located in a valley. It is a medieval settlement from 1450, a typical ¨Castrochori¨ with narrow streets and intact medieval architecture.
Vessa delimits the area of Mastichohoria, which consists of nine villages: Elata, Lithi, Mesta, Olympoi, Pyrgi, Armolia, Kalamoti, Patrika.
Their common features are their special building fabric and the production of Mastic which comes from the cultivation of the mastic-bearing vine, which thrives only in this area of Chios.
A short distance from the settlement are the archaeological sites of Anavatos and Nea Moni of Chios, of great historical, religious and artistic interest, with the outstanding Byzantine mosaics of the 12th century.
At a short distance from Vessa you can find small neat harbors and special beaches, such as Tigani – Agia Irini and Didyma in the west and Komi – Emporios – Mavra Volia in the south.
IANTHI TRADITIONAL HOTEL
The traditional Hotel Ianthi is located at the northwestern end of the traditional settlement of Vessa and is accessible by car.
The Hotel consists of two buildings “A” and “B” located at a distance of 60 m.
In building “A” there is the Reception, the living room, the dining room, the breakfast preparation room and four (4) single and double rooms. There is a large yard – garden.
In building “B” there are two 2 large rooms and a preparation room – kitchen. There is a large terrace on the A floor, and a roof.
The rooms have separate W.C, TV- mini bar – Internet access.
