Psara Island
Psara is a small, historical island at the north-west of Chios with which is connected daily by boat.
The beautiful and traditional island is an excellent choice for quiet, peaceful holidays.
The only settlement, also called Psara, extends around the head of the bay of Limenas in the south of the island.
Sights worth visiting are the house of Kanaris, who fought in the Greek War of Independence, Paleokastro (15th c.), the monastery of the Dormition of the Virgin to the north, and remains of Mycenaean tombs and the settlement at Archontiki.
Psara like Chios and Inousses has a strong seafaring tradition and built up an important naval power.

BEACHES
The island of Psara is unique for its wonderful beaches.
All of them are virgin with crystal clear waters, ideals for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing.
One of the most known is Katsouni.
It is situated near the settlement and attracts many visitors.
It’s full of sand and shallow waters.
Agia Kiriaki is a small gulf near the beach of Katsouni, ideal for those who want to enjoy their privacy in a beach not far from the village.
Other fine beaches are Kato Yialos with pebbles, Lazareta the most beautiful sandy beach of Psara.
It is located at the south side of the island, available for camping.
Lakka on the western side and the islets Nissopoula and Ai-Nikolaki can be visited by small boat.
Archontiki is located next to the beach of Lakka.
A small peninsula separates the 2 beaches.
Limnos is located on the broader gulf of the port and has a big fine beach full of sand and fine pebble.
ACCOMMODATION – LOCAL PRODUCTS
On the island you can find small hotels, rooms to let, taverns where you can taste fresh fish and seafood, traditional cafes.
Don’t forget to taste the traditional cheeses “mizithra” and “kopanisti”.
Psara produces also honey of fine quality.
