Strofades Islands
Strofades is a group of two small uninhabited islands 42 nautical miles of the south coast of Zakynthos.
They have a total area of about 2,6 square kilometers.
On the largest of them, called Stamfani is the imposing 13th c. fortress monastery of the Metamophossis Sotira, dedicated to the memory of Saint Dionysios, who has lived on the islet.
The second one island is called Arpia.
Strofades are also known for their beauty and for the fact that the represent a pass for more than runway for more than a thousand of emigratory birds every year.
The islands can be visited by small boat from Laganas of Zakynthos.
