Tour of Donousa Island
Donousa is a private paradise for those who wish to enjoy quiet and peaceful holidays close to nature as well as the sea.
The capital of the island is also called Donousa or Stavros.
It is a tiny village of a few houses owned by local fishermen.
There are rooms to let and taverns in the harbor, where you will taste fresh fish and local specialties.
In the capital you can see the church of Stavros (Holy Cross) which gave the name for the village and up on the hill behind the new building area the churches of Panagia (Virgin Mary) and Agios Ioannis (St. John).
It is also worth to visit the cave of Tichos which is hiding in the far northwest of the island near Aspros Kavos.
In the island are the villages of Mesaria, Mersini and Kalotaritissa. A main road links these villages together.
