Geographical & Historical Outline Of Donousa
The northernmost of Small East Cyclades islands is Donousa.
The island is located between Naxos and Amorgos.
It has an area of 13,74 square kilometers.
Its terrain is stony and creates many coves.
HISTORY
According to the mythology, during the Minoan time Dionysos brought his bride Ariadne from Naxos to Donoussa to hide her from her father King Minos when she run away from Crete together with Thisseas.
Houses were found from the Geometrical times which were built over the foundation walls of a settlement from the Bronze Age.
Later in history the Romans used Donousa for exile.
